Little and often
A friend said this to me the other day. “I like to do things little and often – that way they do get done, although sometimes it may take a little longer. They don’t take over my life and I stay on top of stuff.”
Whether it is the garden, the housework, the kids revision or homework ; most things in life if you do little them and often will manage themselves. Now this may seem glaringly obvious – but if this is a mantra we instil into ourselves and our children it can save a lot of stressing, heart ache and time.
Stops things from becoming overwhelming
Think about it. If you do stuff little and often stuff – whatever that stuff is, it never gets to the point where you can not find anything, or more likely, that you can not find the particular thing that you desperately need to find. It also means that it is likely to take a lot less time to sort out than if you try to the project in question all in one go.
This “little and often rule”, is also a good mantra to say when your time is short. it helps you prioritise the things which are not urgent yet, but will need a little attention soon.
Set an example with the little and often rule
Setting an example with your kids with the “little and often” rule will also help them keep their bedrooms tidy, keep on top of their homework, as well as help motivate them to do the things they generally don’t like doing.
So remember the “Little and Often ” rule.
