Instead of buying expensive shop make play dough here is how you can your bespoke coloured play dough.
Making your own play dough is very cheap, easy and will keep the kids occupied with making all sorts of interesting creations on a rainy afternoon.
The measurements below are approximate and may need adjusting slightly depending on the flour you are using,
To make the Play Dough you will need:
2 cups of plain flout
1 cup of salt
1 cup of water
2 tablespoons of sunflower of rapeseed oil.
Put all the dry ingredients in a large bowl and then make a well in the centre. Pour the water food colouring and oil into the well and using a metal spoon, gently start to stir the liquid into the water and oil until becomes incorporated.
One you have mixed all the ingredients together, adjust the quantities by add a little more flour, if it is too sticky, or more water if it is too dry.
Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead well until the food colouring is evenly distributed throughout the dough.
This play dough will keep a couple of days in the fridge. Just wrap it in a sandwich bag or cling film and allow the kids to use it as required.
