When your energy levels are low, trying to achieve everything you want to on a daily basis can seem like climbing a mountain.
Having low energy levels in modern life is normally linked to stress. If you feel like your not a stressful person but have low energy than most likely it’s down to diet and also how much you exercise.
Lets start with stress! Ok if you are a person who feels like you get easily stressed you will tend to have lower energy levels. When the body is stressed you are working mainly on epinephrine (adrenaline). Once that gets depleted it tires the body completely making it difficult to give your body the energy boost it needs.
Stressed people in most cases tend to have a lower sleeping pattern sleeping only a few hours a night (maybe none in extreme cases). It is vital to sleep a minimum of 7 hours a night.
When the body rests certain chemicals are secreted from the brain recharging the body ready for the next day, and also sleep gives your muscles time to rest and regenerate (important when it comes to exercise).
Diet is very important when it comes to energy levels. The brain, which is the organ that secretes the chemicals that give energy is mostly fat (roughly 60%) so you need the right foods that fuel the brain. Healthy fats come from fish, olive oils and dark leafy vegetables so topping up on these will give you much more energy.
It is important that your diet consists of small regular meals throughout the day. Eating small and regular speeds up the bodies metabolism and doesn’t put the digestive system under too much stress so energy will spread across the body throughout the day. Eating large meals cause the digestive system to work hard meaning the body uses up lots of energy just trying to digest the food resulting in tiring the body.
Exercise! This in itself can determine whether you can get an increase in energy levels. People that exercise too much put the body under a lot of strain and can cause a loss in energy levels and the same goes for the complete opposite.
People that do not do any exercise will have no energy levels as the heart won’t be getting worked as much as it needs to be. Exercising too much can also cause strain to the muscles resulting in injury and stress so sufficient exercise limits are needed.
It’s important to try to exercise roughly 30 minutes of moderate cardiovascular exercise per day and if a weight trainer splitting weights and cardio days. If a heavy trainer then 2 days of rest are needed to allow the body to regenerate.
