The busy mums February to do list
Well although the days are getting longer, well slightly longer, and the first signs of spring are showing even though the weather is very much spring still feels a little way off. February can be a little on the depressing side. However in fairness Valentines Day and Shrove Tuesday are definitely events that can make February a little bit more interesting. And then of course there is half term to consider and plan for.
Plan for half term
Although Spring may some weeks away – half term isn’t. Now is the time to plan any special outings, check what is on at the cinema and arrange play dates or child care.
Warming winter suppers
Add to your collection of winter stews, slow roast dinners – and enjoy a cosy evening in. (Activities and kids permitting). Be adventurous in the kitchen and try cooking something different.
Make the most of seasonal vegetables not only are they cheaper, they are more likely to be grown locally. Many of these seasonal vegetables are packed full of vitamins and minerals which with little sunlight and daylight hours still short at this time of the year make them an important addition to the families diet to keep everyone’s energy levels up and help to avoid those pesky cold viruses.
Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day is on Tuesday 12th February. Take a look here for some delicious pancake recipes. In fact Pancake Day is a good way to have fun with the family. Whether this is with making the pancakes or having a pancake race or pancake competition.
Valentines day is less than a two weeks away so now is time to organise some themed cooking sessions of cup cakes, fairy cakes or your own favourite cake or pudding decorated with a Valentines theme. Take a look at some of these Valentine recipe ideas.

New Season fashions
As far as clothes goes – February tends to be a time where you are pretty much between seasons. Some spring stuff maybe in – but it is difficult to contemplate spring or summer clothes when it is so cold. However it is a good time to keep and eye out for a bargain. Something that will complement your existing wardrobe or even a sale item that has been sidelined – but maybe just what you are looking for.
