Bad weather activities for bored children
There is nothing more frustrating than small children cooped up at home feeling bored when your plans have been thwarted by bad weather. Here are some simple, cheap ideas to help make rainy days more fun with these simple bad weather activities.
Cooking with the kids.
Children love cooking and whiling away a cold or rainy afternoon can be an excellent way to occupy kids. Whether it is biscuits, fairy or cup cakes or help with making supper children enjoy this because they can see and hopefully eat the end result. Just make sure you make clearing up fun and part of the game too.
Arts, crafts & puzzles
Painting, colouring and sticking are good ways to occupy even small children. Check out Activity Village for lots of art and craft ideas.

Making a den at home
Kids love making dens. Old curtains, sheets and blankets draped over chairs make impromptu play dens. Why not join in the fun and become a kid too for part of the afternoon. The kids will love it.
Go for a rainy day walk
Don’t be put off by the weather As long everyone is in good health there is no reason not to go out on a rainy day for a walk. Kids love love jumping about splashing around in the puddles whether it is in your garden or local park.
If the kids arrive home cold and wet – pop them into a warm bath for some bath time fun. Another job done before bedtime.
Have a film afternoon
Going to the cinema is fun, but not always practical and not a particularly cheap way to pass the afternoon. But cuddling up together on the sofa to watch a movie, and adding atmosphere by turning the lights down low will make watching a movie at home a real occasion.
Throw in some nibbles, snuggle up under the duvet and it can be some cosy down-time for all the family. And the best thing of all about this, that there is no long drive home with sleepy children at the end of the evening.
