Do you remember High Tea? I do, particularly when I visited my grandparent's house for the weekend. High Tea was a grand affair, My Nan really liked cooking and she always put on a great spread for High Tea on a Saturday afternoon.
Now as a family we tend to eat our main meal in the evening so High Tea has been swopped for summer barbeques, and maybe a little alfresco eating on a Saturday evening - weather and all that permitting.
But I think I am going to bring back High Tea as a time saving alternative to early evening supper for friends or family. What a nice alternative for a summer evening. And also there are so many time saving plus's for it.
Most stuff can be made earlier. And most stuff can be bought earlier if you want to cheat.
Here are a few really easy ideas for a really easy High Tea.
Some really nice bread, butter and jam.
Cheese - good old cheddar I think personally would be best and depending on personal taste may be a slice of Wiltshire Ham.
As an alternative on the savoury side then try this really simple recipe tip for Savoury Tartlets.
Add some cucumber and cherry tomatoes as finger food.
And for desert just add cakes, scones, or to really impress your friends or family here is cheats tip to make Mille Feuilles (Cream slices with fruit).
