Fear of Failure is something that I think most of worry about at various times in our lives.
The thing about failure it is part of life’s ups and downs, and if it hasn’t snookered you yet it is probably because you are a very resilient person, not because you have never experienced failing. And that goes for your best friend too that has lived a seemingly enchanted life.
So what is the definition of failure anyway – if you look it up in the dictionary it says “non-performance of something that is due required or expected” That doesn’t sound so bad does it.
Of course failure is subjective. One person’s failure another person may interpret as a realistic outcome.
Changing the word failure to set back is a much more positive definition and gives you more options to duck and dive, which is empowering in itself.
Being flexible to different outcomes to your perceived failure means all your emotional eggs are not in one basket.
Whatever set back someone experiences the thing to remember is there is always but always a solution. Some may not be a preferred choice, some may be seriously whacky, but if you focus on looking for a solution, instead of focusing on your defeat a new path will emerge and a silver lining may appear.
