In an age where we bombarded with information, when “more” often equates to being more successful, popular or important, we end find ourselves being pulled in many directions. Whether we are trying to be “super mum” at home or “super mum” at work, but multi functioning has its limits even for us women.
Busy minds and many projects, whether they are work or home based, can lead to a scatter gun effect when everything is left not quite complete.
These outstanding items then end up sitting on our shoulder like mischievous imps, constantly nagging reminders which can drag us down. And of course the result is we get irritable, tired and feel constantly on edge, but can not work out quite why.
The trouble is that half the time we don’t even realise this is what is happening to us, which means we keep repeating the same negative patterns.
If this strikes a chord with you – then try to adopt this golden rule “Do one thing at a time”, finish it, or schedule a definite time when you will. You can still cook a meal and try to sort out the washing while on the telephone. But by concentrating on one thing at a time you will consciously prioritise what is more immediately urgent and important.
This way you are less likely to end up with a burnt meal, a pile of dirty laundry and a telephone conversation which you have paid absolutley no attention to!
You will also probably find that you will feel a lot less drained and get a lot more done in a lot less time. So remember - just concentrate on one thing at a time even when you are multi tasking.
