And if chaos seems to reign in your house - a little too often. You might just like to read this.
Food for Thought - Learn to Live with Chaos
Not that I am assuming that the next few weeks may become more chaotic than usual, but I do think it is quite empowering to accept that chaos is normal.
There is a quote I came across recently which goes, “Chaos is the law of nature. Order is the dream of man”. Now that is something I know I need to embrace.
This unspoken law of nature exists everywhere, but is particularly acute in family life, where the number of balls that require constant juggling, in addition to small people (and sometimes the larger teenage variety), can destroy the best laid plans in a nano second.
It doesn’t really matter what form the chaos takes, or how it starts, you can almost guarantee with certainty, just when you think you have finally got on top of things, something unforeseen materialises, and scuppers you back into a cauldron of chaos.
Indeed it does not matter how hard you try to avoid it. The chaos is always sitting right there beside you…just waiting to emerge at the most inconvenient moment.
So rather than fighting against chaos, it is probably best to accept and dare I say, even welcome it into your life. By not trying to control or predict things or people, there comes a degree of humour and perspective.
Instead of using unnecessary energy fighting it, you can choose the path of least resistance. That way the chaos may still exist, but you have defeated its negative power over you.
So when stuff is piling up on top of you this summer holiday, remember "chaos is the law of nature". Its normal. So go with the flow and live with it.
