Take a look at your Absolute Priorities
One of the problems with having an awful lot to do is we can lose sight of our absolute priorities. We focus on the here and now and what absolutely needs to be done or has to to happen.
If you can take some time out and try the following exercise. You will need a notebook that you can record and review what you have written.
1. Often part of the problem is we holding all this "stuff" in our heads so the first thing you need to is write a To Do List and include absolutely everything on it which you feel you need to do.
2. Prioritise everything by how important and urgent it is. Discard anything that can wait.
3. Within your To Do List, schedule time for yourself even if it is only for twenty minutes a day. This is important to help recharge your batteries.
4. Make sure you delegate taks wherever possible and again record where and how this will happen on the list.
5. Don’t aim for perfection. If people are doing tasks on your behalf the likelyhood is they will not do it as well as you. Accept this.
5. Be flexible. Don't do stuff you don't have to do. Think of another way round the problem. Be creative.
6. When you have finished your To Do List remind yourself of your absolute priorities. e.g Your health, important relationships etc - then take another look at your list.
7. Still find you are feeling you have too much on your plate? Try being your own objective advisor, what advice would you give a friend who came to you with the same set of circumstances.
8. Finally - and this is very important, so don't miss this bit out. Focus on the End Game. e.g. Where do you want to be in ten or twenty years. What do you want your life and relationships to be like. What will you need to do to make that happen. What changes will you need to make to set yourself on that course.
Review your notes and add to them regularly.
